The State Of The Jamaican Movie Industry

The problem with the Jamaican movie industry is that there is no movie industry. Jamaican people over the years do not value the arts and only a few of the uptowners who are in the know. For years in Jamaica, the ghetto mentality have been the ones promoting most of the visual arts coming out of Jamaica. No fault of their own, the people who could afford to finiance and make low budget films and stage plays have been telling it their way. So let us look at a drug lord who has the money to splash around. He is going to become the executive director/producer and the story he is going to tell is the story about his world, yes drugs and guns. This is still creative stuff to him. To the more intellectuals it's a pile of crap. GUNS AND DRUGS Jamaica has been tarnished with a brush of negativity. The only thing to come out of Jamaicam movies over the years is how to kill each other and do drug deals at home and abroad. Also how to bamdooloo your way through the visa system to get to US or...
